Biography
Hussaini Abdu is a seasoned public intellectual with over 25 years of experience in international leadership, development, and humanitarian work. Passionate about social justice, human rights, and sustainability, he currently leads CARE International’s operations in Nigeria, overseeing one of the country’s largest humanitarian programs.
Previously, Hussaini held key roles at Plan International and ActionAid, where his leadership impacted millions of lives. He also led democracy and governance initiatives across 23 African countries, working with global organizations like the African Union, ECOWAS, and the UN.
A former political science lecturer, Hussaini holds a PhD from Bayero University Kano and certifications from Harvard and King’s College London. He is also the author of notable works, including Clash of Identity and Partitioned Borgu. Throughout his career, Hussaini has been committed to shaping policies, strengthening institutions, and driving sustainable development across Africa.
